Development of the LEIMER KG from the fine bakery to the successful brand

In 1919, the brothers Josef and Carl Leimer took over the patisserie and confectionary Jäger at the townsquare in Traunstein. In parallel, they established a wholesale bakery and supplied the retail in the Chiemgau and Rupertigau with fine bakery products. The revolutionary idea to produce breadcrumbs no longer from old bread but from extra baked fresh white-bread was the beginning of an unparalleled success story.

The company developed to a leading brand manufacturer under the management of Karl Leimer. With the beginning of the radio advertising in the 1950s, the well-known slogan: “Die Semmelbrösel von LEIMER, bei dene Brösel da bleim´mer“ stuck in the minds of the consumers.

With innovative product ideas and the highest quality awareness, LEIMER expanded its market position with breadcrumbs from Bavaria. Further convenience products followed, e.g. LEIMER Ready-to-Use-Breadcrumbs-Mixture with eggs and spices.

As an innovation for the German market, LEIMER developed croutons, roasted white-bread cubes in interesting flavours.

The range of products has been continually extended, e.g. by soup additions like soup pearls, marrow dumplings, egg royale, semolina dumplings and liver dumplings. Due to the development of the organic food market, we offer a number of selected products also in organic quality. For consumers sensitive to gluten, LEIMER launched gluten-free breadcrumbs.

On the fully automatic baking lines and around the clock, 300 tons of fresh white-bread are processed to LEIMER branded products. With its Bavarian delicacies, LEIMER is an important partner for retail and industry and internationally active today.
